Our Story
We founded Kaleidoscope Kids Developmental Center (KKDC) with a single, powerful goal: to fill a crucial gap in services for infants and toddlers in Western Montana. As therapists specializing in early intervention pediatric therapy, we were deeply affected when our former non-profit employer closed its doors due to state funding loss. That closure left countless families without the support they needed, and we knew we couldn’t stand by and do nothing.
Driven by a shared vision, we set out to establish a nonprofit that would serve as a lifeline for families in our community. Our mission was clear: to deliver the highest standard of care through evidence-based, family-centered, wrap-around pediatric therapy for children ages 0-3, at no cost to families. As a nonprofit, our goal is to remove the barriers that families face when accessing care—whether due to financial challenges, conflicting work schedules, transportation issues, inadequate insurance coverage, or a lack of qualified providers. This vision led to the creation of Kaleidoscope Kids Developmental Center, a nonprofit dedicated to closing the service gap in Western Montana and providing exceptional care to children and families in need.
Right from the start, we understood that community support would be key to our success. To ensure our mission would thrive, we established an advisory board made up of dedicated professionals from various fields. This team included a parent whose child had benefited from early intervention, a social worker, a pediatrician, a CPA, and an education specialist. Together, we reached out to local partners, connected with families, and began building the foundation of an organization that could meet the growing need for specialized care.
At KKDC, we place a strong emphasis on a family-centered approach. We know that families are the heart of a child’s development, and our goal is to empower them through education, advocacy, coaching, and guidance. By working together, we help parents and caregivers better understand their child’s unique needs and abilities. We firmly believe that caregivers are the true change-makers and deserve a central role in shaping their child’s developmental journey.
In December 2024, after months of careful planning and outreach, KKDC took an exciting step forward by signing a fiscal sponsorship agreement with the United Way of Missoula County. This partnership allows us to move forward with our mission, ensuring that we can provide best-practice early intervention services to children, completely free of charge to families.
As we continue to seek funding and support, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible early intervention services. While the journey is just beginning, our vision is unwavering: to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of children and families throughout Western Montana.
